Apple prepare to move from OLED to micro LED displays in Apple Watch

[golem.de, LINK (German)] Apple seems to be planning a display with micro LEDs instead of OLEDs in one of the next watch generations. This is indicated by discussions with AU Optronics and its own factory in California, according to Golem.de. Apple representatives are said to have visited in Taiwan, among others, the display manufacturer AU Optronics to discuss the current status of micro-LEDs. So far, Apple is relying on OLED display for its watches and iPhones, which are primarily manufactured by Samsung and LG from South Korea. For the iPads Apple continues to use classic LCDs mainly from BOE or Japan Display. However, some earlier models were also equipped by AU Optronics.
